Summer Aerial Camps for Kids Ages 5 – 17
Kaya Aerial Yoga’s Kids Camp is a fun, energetic, secure and safe environment for children to explore aerial arts and yoga. It’s also a place for them to develop a uniquely creative outlet for a child’s natural inclination to grow and play at the same time.
Kaya is a strictly non-competitive studio, and our methodology for teaching aerial skills and techniques to children utilises every child’s innate desire to move, climb, spin and flip. We help kids to develop a love of movement and exercise, and to use their natural curiosity and energy to begin building the discipline and focus required to advance in aerial and other movement arts.
All children will start with an introduction to the hammock, which is our most accessible apparatus, and will learn all the foundational wraps, mounts, poses, transitions, and tricks. Depending on the age group, we then expand this foundation into more complex sequencing.
We also teach kids, by using the power of their own self-expression, how to tell stories through the unique movement allowed by the aerial hammock. For children ages 9 and up, we introduce them to the various other apparatus’ used in the aerial arts. With teens in particular, we focus on all aspects of aerial performance. This particular focus is interspersed with physical classes, and our instruction on aerial theory and anatomy through the use of hands-on arts-and-crafts projects.
